Haiti 13, December 2017 – Wednesday Update

Updated: Mar 4, 2022

Dear Friends,

Today concluded the third and final day of camp at Jacob’s Well and mobile camp. The Lord blessed us with another day of perfect weather following heavy rains in the night. Our role during camp continued to be largely activity support and kitchen help as the young Haitian leaders took the lead with activities, teaching, and Bible drama. Today we saw “Moses” lead God’s people out of Egypt and toward the Promised Land. The Haitian acting teams are very animated, and the children are equally responsive!

We said goodbye to the children at the gate, American candy in hand for their walk back to the village. We enjoyed an impromptu game of nine square in the air with the Haitian leaders before we said goodbye to them as well. Pray for spiritual fruit to grow and flourish in the days that follow in the lives of the children, their families, and the leaders.

We got word today that American Airlines had hired IBC Airlines to fly 3500 lbs of “excess baggage,” including our suitcases, from Miami to CAP.  Hans and Caleb made a second trip back to Cap Haitian with Betty Valcin and our Haitian driver, only to be told that the only lady who could help us had left and locked everything up at 3:30. TIH (This is Haiti.) We will try again in the morning. As frustrating as this is, God has remained faithful, continuously supplying all our needs. Although our medical bag is one of the missing items, we have had everything we needed all week between the team supplies in our carry-ons. We even had antibiotic eye drops that have helped our Haitian friend and Jacob’s Well employee recover from a painful eye infection. God always knows, and much better than we do, exactly what we need and He faithfully provides for His children.

Tomorrow we plan to start before daylight with a Haitian guide to hike Double Head Mountain. Then we plan to visit the beach in the afternoon. We will also do some facility clean up and packing to ready ourselves for our return on Friday. All are looking forward to seeing their families at DFW on Friday night. We are due to arrive at 9:43 p.m. on American Airlines flight 2448 from Miami.

We are about to have our next installment of our team study on the life of Moses. We will be looking at Moses’ first confrontation with Pharaoh. We will see that when we devote ourselves fully to God’s work, we can expect opposition. The team is asking if we are really going to get through chapter 11…that is still the plan. We shall see. We have definitely covered the first four chapters deeply, and that is a credit to the team seeking to study the text in depth. For those of you who know Hans, he is more than happy to comply.

Thank you again for your prayers and your faithful support of this mission. May the Lord bless you for your kindness and generosity.

For God’s Glory, Bon Nwit (Good Night) Haiti 13
