Dear faithful friends and supporters,
The Lord has faithfully brought us through our first official day of camp, both here at Jacob’s Well and in the neighboring village of Letiro with a VBS program. The Lord blessed us with 190 children at Jacob’s Well and 210 (60 more than expected!) in the village next door. In both ministry locations, we were pleased with the level of leadership displayed by the Haitian staff!
The fact that camp began today may come as a surprise to some. Originally, we planned to do camp Thurs. – Sat., however, the schedule was moved forward due to an opportunity to help plan and officiate a local Haitian wedding involving one of our Jacob’s Well staff members. The wedding is now planned to occur on Saturday afternoon, so camp began today and will end on Friday.
With a team that is 30 members strong, we have been able to cover a lot of ground. We had day camp teams assisting Haitian leaders in two locations, an electrical team continuing to troubleshoot lighting circuits, and a wedding committee planning and decorating. An interesting task that occupied several hours of the morning was pea snapping. We will have a new appreciation for this particular legume when it is served tomorrow!! ; )
We continue to remain in good health and of course, we are eating like kings! We enjoyed pancakes for breakfast with passion fruit juice (out of this world) and the ever famous Jacob’s Well coffee. Alicia’s zesty spaghetti and Haitian slaw was served for the staff lunch, and we were blessed by fried turkey, cheesy potatoes that we all want the recipe for, and green beans and carrots for dinner. We were served guava pie for dessert! We are definitely not suffering!!
Thank you for continuing to pray for our team and for our Haitian partners in ministry. As Hans pointed out in our David study tonight, the battle is the Lord’s.
Bon Nwit and God bless!
Haiti 11 Team
