Taking Off to New Heights

I don’t know whether you’ve read one or fifty-one of this year’s Friday’s stories for the 50th Anniversary of Frontier Camp. But I can guess that because you are reading this, you have a story about how Frontier Camp’s ministry has impacted you. If that is true of you, would you do two things for me?
The first is I’d like for you to write your own story down and send it to me. Just like a staff testimony at a campfire or a camper testimony at a Royal Campfire, your story will impact others! God will be glorified. And, God loves to be thanked. Do you know how to thank God? Psalm 105:1-2 captures it well:
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done. Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts.”
So, the ideal way to thank the Lord is to not only tell Him about it, but to tell others. Share your story about how God has used FC in your life with the ultimate goal of giving thanks and praise to our Father.
The second thing I’d like you to do is to tell someone else about Frontier Camp. You can’t just hope that Frontier Camp will be strong in 2020 and going forward into the next 50 years, you have to do something about it. Here are some ideas of how you can share with someone about Frontier Camp in the form of a checklist.
Take a summer camp brochure down the street to a neighbor who has kids ages 7-17. Take another one to that family at your church that you need to meet and get to know anyway. Explain to both families the benefits of summer camp and why they should consider sending their child(ren) to Frontier Camp. Don’t have a brochure? E-mail us your address and we’ll send some right out to you.
Talk to the leadership of your church about having a retreat at Frontier Camp. We can host groups from 12-400 and our staff loves to serve. Don’t just suggest it. Follow up on your suggestion in a few weeks and offer to take them on a tour of Frontier Camp.
Suggest to a co-worker who has a same gendered child ages 7-14 that they should consider taking that child to a mother/daughter or father/son weekend at Frontier Camp. The weekends are affordable and pay huge dividends in strengthening family relationships.
Bring your small group from church or that board that you serve on to Fort Knox for a prayer and planning retreat. The 8 rooms and seclusion are just what you all need to refocus and refresh.
Talk to a philanthropist friend about the opportunities at Frontier Camp where their giving can be used to “Make disciples of Jesus by sharing God’s Word in His creation.” You’d be surprised that many donors have capacity and desire to give but want to know some organizations that can be trusted with their giving.
Make a personal gift to the scholarship fund at this year-end so that a family who cannot afford camp can send their child to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ this coming summer.
If you are like me, you have had no shortage of organizations sending you mail about their 2020 vision. They even list how they will accomplish it and what they need from you in order to get there. Well, now you have Frontier Camp’s 2020 vision and what we need from you. I need your story. And I need you to invite someone else to start a story this coming year at Frontier Camp. Will you do it?
