BELIZE 3 - UPDATE 1 (MONDAY)

We made it to Belize!


The team all woke up around 3:30 AM, and then ate biscuits and gravy made by Miss Cierra Espinoza. We prayed Belizean style (all at the same time), then rolled out of camp around 4:45, and had a smooth drive to IAH.


We arrived at the airport and went through TSA smoothly, and then departed around 9:30 AM, with a quick 2 hour flight to Belize City. After we arrived in Belize, we went through customs quickly and headed to Samuel’s Sanctuary with our host Malkien Espino.


On our way we made two stops, the first at a supermarket to grab a few snacks and drinks, and then to the Country Barn for their famous ice cream.


We arrived at Samuel’s Sanctuary around 4:15 and settled into our dorms. While the Samuel’s Sanctuary staff prepared dinner we gathered in the hammocks and had our first team meeting in Belize. 


We ate a delicious dinner of chicken, rice and beans, steamed veggies, fried plantain, and a tasty banana coconut cream pie. We enjoyed this meal with the other team staying at Samuel’s Sanctuary this week from Grace Bible Church in Palestine.


After dinner we dispersed around the property and relaxed until our devotional time. After going over our schedule for the week, Matt Henderson began our devotional series for the week in Habakkuk.


After being awake for 17 hours, we are heading to bed for some much needed rest. We are excited for what God will do through our team during this trip! Please continue to pray for us this week!
