FRONTIER CAMP RECEIVES TEXAS YOUTH CAMP LICENSE FOR SUMMER 2026

As Frontier Camp prepares to welcome nearly 2,000 campers this summer, we are grateful to share that Frontier Camp is among the first youth camps in Texas to receive approval under the State of Texas’ new Youth Camp licensing process.

In the wake of the tragic Hill Country flooding in July 2025, Texas implemented sweeping new safety standards for youth camps focused on emergency preparedness, communication systems, training, accountability procedures, and parent transparency.

While the new licensing process includes significant additional documentation and formal review, much of what the state now requires reflects systems and practices Frontier Camp has prioritized for many years through our existing culture of safety, professionalism, and stewardship. Frontier Camp has operated under nationally recognized American Camp Association (ACA) standards since 1981, maintaining comprehensive emergency planning, staff training, medical protocols, and communication systems.

For us, this process was not about reinventing camp operations. It was about clearly documenting and strengthening what we already believe is part of faithfully caring for the children entrusted to us.

As a ministry, we view this responsibility as more than a regulatory requirement. Each week, parents entrust us with their children, and we do not take that trust reposed in us lightly. Since 1969, Frontier Camp has existed to make disciples of Jesus Christ by sharing God’s Word in His creation, and we believe the Lord has been faithful to sustain and guide this ministry through every season.

Over the past year, we have also seen God provide in timely and practical ways that directly support camp safety and preparedness. In March of 2025, Frontier Camp completed installation of fiber optic broadband across camp prior to the summer season, significantly improving communication reliability and operational capability. In November of 2025, our Giving Tuesday campaign helped launch a new path lighting project that is improving visibility and safety throughout camp after dark.  God used generous donors to fund a safety improvement that is now mandated!

The updated licensing requirements also place a strong emphasis on emergency preparedness and parent communication. Frontier Camp maintains a comprehensive Emergency Action Plan (EAP) addressing severe weather, fire, medical emergencies, missing campers, and other potential risks. Our staff train extensively in emergency procedures and utilize two-way radios, camp-wide communication systems, and accountability procedures designed to support rapid and organized response.

We are also committed to transparency with families. Parents/guardians of all campers receive and acknowledge our Emergency Preparedness and Floodplain Notification, including access to our Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and FEMA floodplain map.

At the end of the day, our mission remains unchanged: Faith, Fun, and Friends. We strive to provide a place where campers grow spiritually, build lifelong friendships, and create lasting memories in an environment that is safe, structured, and well-prepared.

We are grateful for the trust families place in Frontier Camp, and we remain committed to stewarding that responsibility faithfully.
