Our morning began with a continuation of our team's study through the book of Titus. This morning we studied chapter 2 verses 1-10. We have been gleaning a lot from God’s word this week and look forward to how he continues to grow and sanctify us through our study. Some of our team wakes up extra early between 6 and 7 am to do their personal bible studies in the beautiful great outdoors here in Belize.
This morning we had FRENCH TOAST for breakfast and it was delicious! The food has been incredible all week and we always look forward to seeing what is at the next meal. We enjoyed some great fellowship over breakfast and then loaded up our equipment and headed to the Country Barn. This morning we were able to join the Country Barn staff at their Bible study. They were also studying Titus chapter 2. We were able to go around and encourage one another through what verses stuck out to us and we got to know some of the staff members from the Country Barn better which was really sweet. By God’s grace, we were also able to pray over a friend of Dino’s who has been through many trials. We have continued to witness the Lord’s faithfulness and His grace through praying for other believers and encouraging them while we have been here in Belize.
After leaving the Country Barn we headed to St. Margaret’s School in the village. We waited for the kids to get released from their classrooms for their morning break and we had about 20 minutes to play soccer, run around, and make gospel bracelets. So many of the kids were able to retain and repeat back to us what each colored bead on the bracelet stood for. We recognized a lot of the school children from the village but some of them came from surrounding villages, so we also got the opportunity to meet lots of new kids today! All of the kids are so sweet and their smiles and laughter are contagious! The 20 minutes we had with them were slightly chaotic but the Lord was good at using chaotic moments too for His glory and for the furtherance of the gospel.
For Lunch this afternoon, we came back to Samuel’s Sanctuary and ate pineapple chicken with white rice and zucchini. We had a bit of a longer break after lunch because the school did not have its afternoon break until 2:30. During the break most of us rested and prepared for the second break.
On our way to the school for the second time, we stopped by the Country Barn for some ice cream! Many of us tried the Oreo flavor for the first time and it was delicious!!!!
When we got to the school we played soccer, volleyball, tag, and with pipe cleaners until about 4:15. Right before some children who live in other villages got picked up by the bus, we did our final Bible drama from the story of Joseph. Many of the kids love to be chased around and they love to give big hugs!
For dinner, we had the most delicious, amazing, fantastic, best-in-the-world, incredible tacos. Everyone on the team was so excited! We had to eat quickly to get to the village around 6 pm to have our final night with the village kids and their families. We spent some time worshipping the Lord through song singing Pharoah Pharoah, Blind Man, and Romans 16:19! We did the Bible drama from this afternoon one more time for the kids and their families. Afterward, we made three fires and divided the children into three groups. We made s’mores and the kids LOVED them! Each kid came back for at least three. We also handed out glowsticks, which the kids also really liked. Many of the village kid’s parents also came and got to take part in the festivities. Tonight was bittersweet, we had so much fun playing with the kids, but also saying goodbye to them was very sad. The kids all gave us big hugs and asked if we were coming back next year.
When we got back to Samuel’s Sanctuary we sat down to watch an episode of The Chosen with some of the Country Barn staff. The episode was about Nicodemus and John 3. We were originally going to finish out the night with a game of volleyball against the Country Barn staff but we decided to postpone that till tomorrow night.
We are so thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to be here in Belize doing Gospel work for the Lord. He is so good to use broken yet redeemed people like us to share in the work for His kingdom. We are so blessed to have seen, felt, and experienced all that we have on this trip. The Lord is abundantly kind and faithful and He is continuing to build His church!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Buenas Noches from Belize!
