Veteran’s Day

Updated: Mar 6, 2022

That afternoon my family and I left for College Station to attend a ceremony at Veteran’s Park. My dad was among nearly 300 veterans who’s families commemorated their service with a brick on the veteran’s wall. The day concluded with the Aggie Band, a wonderful Christian general speaking and was capped off with the Ross Volunteers offering a 21 gun salute. Very moving and powerful. If you’re ever in B/CS go by and see Veteran’s Park. The pavilion, veteran’s wall and multiple statues are very impressive. We certainly are blessed to live in the USA. So many people have fought and died for the freedoms that we enjoy.

Now let me mention the last exercise our staff did around the flagpole. We each took turns stating who our favorite Bible character was and why that character distinguished himself or herself in God’s Army. Elisha, Daniel, Nehemiah, Deborah, Jonathan, and David were among those mentioned. Jesus Christ also made the list. His sacrifice so that we can have abundant and eternal life is the single, greatest act in history. John 15:13 is still the verse that the Aggie Corps recites today, “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” Now the challenge for us today and forward is the next verse: “You are my friends if you do what I command.” Want to be a friend of Jesus? The recipe is simple, obedience. Have a great weekend.
